バーバラ・デイン　Barbara Dane

本名はバーバラ・ジーン・スピルマン( Barbara Jean Spillman )と言い、1927年5月12日にミシガン州デトロイトで生まれました。彼女はフォーク、ブルース、ジャズを歌い、ギタリスト、プロデューサー、政治活動家でもあります。ハイ・スクールを卒業すると、人種的平等や経済的正義を求めるデモで歌い始め、工場の門や労働組合のホールで歌いました。初期のブルース・アーティスト達と共演し、1961年にサンフランシスコのブロードウェイ、ノースビーチ地区に自分のクラブ『Sugar Hill: Home of the Blues』を開店し定期的に演奏しました。彼女は全米各地や世界各国のコーヒーハウスで歌い、1966年には革命後のキューバを巡業した最初の米国人アーティストとなりました。1870年に当事の夫であるアーウィン・シルバーと、国際的なプロテスト音楽の専門レーベル、パレドン・レコードを設立し、以降、12年間にわたって、自身のアルバム3枚を含む50枚近くのアルバムをプロデュースしました。彼女は今、カルフォルニア州オークランドに住んでいます。アルバムは、1957年「Trouble in Mind」、1958年「A Night at the Ash Grove」、1959年「Livin' With the Blues」、1962年「On My Way (Capitol,」、同1962年「When I Was a Young Girl」、1964年「Sings the Blues with 6 & 12 String Guitar」、同1964年「Lightning Hopkins with His Brothers Joel and John Henry / with Barbara Dane」、1966年「Barbara Dane and the Chambers Brothers」、1970年「FTA!
