バイザー・スミス　Byther Smitty Smith

1932年4月17日にミシシッピー州モンテセロで生まれました。1961年にラサールに初録音しています。1970年代には地元レーベルにシングル盤の録音を重ね、1974年の「Money Tree」が評判になりました。この曲はB.B.キングの「Why I Sing The Blues」のスタイルを引用したものです。代表作アルバムは、1993年「I'm A Mad Man」です。その他は、1981年「Hold That Train」、1983年「ell Me How You Like It」、1984年「Big Shot Smitty」、1985年「Gritty Soul」、1989年「Addressing The Nation With The Blues」、1991年「Housefire」、1996年「Mississippi Kid」、1997年「All Night Long」、2001年「Smitty’s Blues」、2004年「Throw Away The Book」、2008年「Blues on the Moon: Live at the Natural Rhythm Social Club」、2008年「Got No Place To Go」などがあります。
2010年1月21日から25日まで開催される《シカゴ・ブルース＆ソウル・ショウダウン》に出演のため来日しました。
