    キャンディ・ステイトン　Candi Staton

    米国のゴスペル/ソウル歌手で、1970年に歌ったタミー・ワイネットの曲「Stand By Your Man」と、1976年のディスコ調のヒット曲「Young Hearts Run Free」で知られています。1940年3月13日にキャンゼッタ・マリア・ステイトン( Canzetta Maria Staton )として、アラバマ州ハンセヴィルで生まれました。12歳の時に姉妹のマギーと一緒にテネシー州ナッシュビルにある the Jewell Christian Academy に通っていました。歌唱力が抜きん出ていた彼女は、ゴスペル・トリオを組み、ソウル・スタラーズ( The Soul Stirrers )やC.L. フランクリン( C.L. Franklin )、マヘリア・ジャクソン( Mahalia Jackson )などと一緒に巡業していました。1953年から63年にかけてアポロ、サヴォイなどに吹き込んでいます。1968年にソロ活動を始め「Stand by Your Man」や「In the Ghetto」、「Young Hearts Run Free」、「Destiny」、「Honest I Do I Love You」、「When You Wake Up Tomorrow」、「Victim」などのヒットを連発しました。
    2012年6月30日から7月1日まで来日公演しました。2014年10月4日、5日、7日に来日公演しました。
