    チャーリー・プール　Charlie Poole

    1920年代から30年代初めにかけて活躍したノース・キャロライナ・ランブラーズ( The North Carolina Ramblers )の中心人物でバンジョー奏者でありフォーク歌手です。1892年3月22日にヴァージニア州境近くのノース・キャロライナ州スプレイで生まれました。本名はチャールズ・プール( Charles Poole )です。若い時からバンジョーを弾いていました。やがて、1917年に義理の兄弟でフィドル奏者のPosey Rorerとギター奏者Norman Woodlieffの三人でノース・キャロライナ・ランブラーズ( The North Carolina Ramblers )を結成しました。コロンビアと契約し、1825年に録音した「Don't Let Your Deal Go Down Blues」が大ヒットしました。20年代を通じてコロンビアに60曲以上を録音し、「Sweet Sunny South」、「White House Blues」、「He Rambled」、「Take a Drink on Me」などのヒットを放ち、ビル・モンローやハンク・ウィリアムズなどに多大な影響を与えました。彼は大変な大酒呑みだったので、1931年5月21日年に心臓発作を起こして亡くなりました。
