ケイティ・メルア　Katie Melua

本名はケテヴァン・メルア( ქეთევან მელუა )です。1984年9月16日に旧ソ連邦のグルジア（現在のジョージア）で生まれ、9歳の時に家族と共に北アイルランド北部の都市ベルファストに移住しました。13歳の時に英国ロンドンに引越してから音楽に打ち込み、音楽学校に進学して、自作曲を歌っているところを音楽関係者の目に止まりプロの道へと進みました。2003年にシングル盤「The Closest Thing To Crazy」がラジオで流されて評判となり、2003年の初アルバム「Call off the Search」は全英アルバム順位で6週間連続1位を維持しました。続く2005年の2作目のアルバム「Piece by Piece」も欧州各国でヒットになりました。2008年には3作目「Pictures」を発表しました。優雅で気品があり知性的で本格的な作詞・作曲者兼歌手です。
