    ケリー・ハルル　Kelly Harrell

    1920年代のカントリー歌手で、1889年9月13日にヴァージニア州ワイズ郡ドラパーズ渓谷で生まれ、1942年7月9日に死去しました。10代の頃から織物工場で働いていて、1925年の35歳の時にニューヨークに出て、ヴィクター・レコードに「New River Train」と「The Roving Gambler」を含む4曲を吹き込みました。続いて同年の遅くにはオーケーに「The Wreck of the Old 97」と「I Was Born 10,000 Year Ago」を吹き込んでいます。後者は後に「The Bragging Song」として知られ、エルヴィス・プレスリー( Elvis Presley )やニュー・クリスティ・ミンストレルズ( The New Christy Minstrels )、オデッタ( Odetta )など多くの歌手達が追演しています。ヴィクターには1925年、26年、27年、29年と吹き込みを続けましたが、伴奏者を雇えなくなり、1929年以降は音楽活動を停止しました。
