    レヴァランド・ゲイリー・デイビス　Reverend Gary Davis

    1896年4月30日に南キャロライン州ローレンスで生まれ、1972年5月5日にニュージャージー州ハモントンで亡くなりました。5歳でハーモニカを吹き、6歳でバンジョーを弾き、7歳の時にはギターを弾きました。14歳でストリング・バンドを組んで南キャロライン州を巡業しています。その後、視力を失った事がきっかけで宗教に関心を持ち、1933年には牧師になっていますが、1935年にブラインド・ボーイ・フラーとレコーディングをした時にはブルースも吹き込んでいます。その後は、ニューヨークのハーレムやブルックリンの街頭で説教をしては、ゴスペルを歌っていました。
