    シェメキア・コープランド　Shemekia Copeland

    シャロン・シェメキア・コープランド( Charon Shemekia Copeland )は、1979年4月10日にニューヨーク州ハーレムで生まれました。父はブルースギタリストのジョニー・コープランドです。幼い頃から歌い始め、10歳の時にコットン・クラブで公演しました。16歳から本格的に活動し、父の公演の前座を務めました。アリゲーターと契約し、1998年に 初アルバム「Turn the Heat Up!」を発表しました。その他のアルバムは、2000年「Wicked」、2002年「Talking to Strangers」、2005年「The Soul Truth」などがあります。2008年にテラーク・インターナショナルに移籍し、2009年に「Never Going Back」を発売しました。その後、2011年「Shemekia Copeland - Deluxe Edition」、2012年「33 1/3」、2015年「Outskirts of Love」、2018年「America's Child」があります。
