    シャギー・オーティス　Shuggie Otis

    1953年にカリフォルニア州ロサンジェルスで生まれました。父親はＲ＆Ｂの草分け的存在と言われ、「Hound Dog」や「Willy And The Hand Jive」の作者であるジョニー・オーティス( Johnny Otis )です。
    初めてのシングル盤は、1965年の12歳の時の「Country Girl」という父の作った曲で、米国R&Bチャート29位になるヒットでした。1968年には、ジョニー・オーティスのアルバムが縁で知り合ったアル・クーパー( Al Kooper )の誘いで、コロンビアから「Kooper Session / Super Session Vol.Ⅱ」を発売しました。1970年代以降はジョニー・オーティス･ショーに参加しています。
    2013年3月31日、4月1日に”Billbord Live TOKYO”で来日しました。

    1974年にレコーディングされました。トランペット、ホルンは外部委託ですが、一人でベース、オルガン、ピアノ、ビブラハープ、パーカッションをこなし、一人で多重録音されました。名盤ですが、売上は上がらずにEpicはシャギーとの契約を打ち切ってしまいます。
