    ビッグ・ビル・ブルーンジー　Big Bill Broonzy

    本名はウィリアム・リー・コンリー・ブルーンジーです。1893年6月26日にミシシッピー州スコットで生まれました。1920年にシカゴに出て、パパ・チャーリー・ジャクソンにギターを習い、1926年頃にパラマウントに初レコーディングしています。その後、徐々に名を高め、30年代中期以降はシカゴ・ブルースの旗頭として活躍しました。ギタリストとしても、サニー・ボーイ・ウィリアムソンⅠ、ジャズ・ジラム、リル・グリーンなどのレコーディングに付き合っています。50年代はヨーロッパにたびたび巡業し、フォーク・ブルースマンとして白人層の人気を得て、フォークウェイズやストリーヴィルなどで多くのLPを作りました。1958年8月15日に喉頭ガンのため死去しました。
