クリス・スミザー　Chris Smither

ニューオーリーンズを拠点に活動しています。1944年11月11日にフロリダ州マイアミで双子の男女の兄として生まれました。家族と共にエクアドル、テキサス州リオ・グランデを経て、3歳の時にニューオーリンズに落ち着いて、そこで育ちました。ハイスクール時代はフォークを演奏していました。メキシコ大学在学中にライトニン・ホプキンスを知って傾倒し、その後、ニューオーリンズに戻った時にミシシッピ・ジョン・ハートを 知り、二人からの影響が彼の奏法を作り上げました。初アルバムは1970年の「I'm a Stranger Too!」です。1971年には「Don't It Drag On」を発表しましたが、以後は酒に溺れて12年間沈みました、1984年に「It Ain't Easy」を発表して復活すると、その後は順調にアルバムを製作しています。その他のアルバムは、1991年「Another Way to Find You」、1993年「Happier Blue」、1995年「Up on the Lowdown」、1997年「Small Revelations」、1999年「Drive You Home Again」、2000年「Live as I'll Ever Be」、2005年「Honeysuckle Dog」、2003年「Train Home」、2006年「Leave the Light On」、2009年「Time Stands Still」、2011年「Lost and Found」、2012年「Hundred Dollar Valentine」、2014年「Still on the Levee」、2018年「Call Me Lucky」、2020年「More From The Levee」などがあります。
