    クララ・ウォード　Clara Ward

    1940年代と50年代にファイマウス・ウォード・シンガーズ( The Famous Ward Singers )のリード歌手として活躍した米国のゴスペル歌手です。アレサ・フランクリンに影響を与えました。1924年4月21日に生まれ、1973年1月16日に死去しました。グループは、元々は彼女の母であるガートルード・ウォード( Gertrude Ward )が1931年にウォード・シンガーズ( The Ward Singers )として結成し、自身と末っ子のクララ、長女のウィラ( Willa )から成るファミリー・ゴスペル・グループでした。クララのソロ名義での初録音は1940年のことです。「Surely, God Is Able」、「How I Got Over」、「Packin' Up」などの曲が有名です。
