    ウィルコ　Wilco

    米国のイリノイ州シカゴを拠点に活動するオルタナティヴ・ロック・バンドです。バンド名は無線通信の用語である”will comply”(了解)の略語”Wilco”から来ています。初アルバムは1995年「A.M.」です。2作目は1996年「Being There」、その他は1998年「Mermaid Avenue」、2002年「Yankee Hotel Foxtrot」、2004年「A Ghost is Born」、2009年「Wilco」などがあります。

    2010年4月22日、23日に来日しました。2013年4月10日、12日、13日に来日公演しました。
    2024年3月6日～8日に来日公演しました。

    2002年に発表された4作目のアルバムです。WilcoはWarners/Repriseレコードから発表しようとしましたが、会社は売れ線でないという理由で発売を拒否し、おまけに契約も解除してしまいました。そこで、正式アルバム発売までの1年あまり、インターネット上で無料ダウンロード供給されていました。結果はWilcoとして始めてのゴールド・ディスクとなりました。
    アルバムの表題は短波ラジオ放送に由来しているそうですが、プロデューサーのジム・オルーク( Jim ORourke )は、ラジオの混線や雑音の彼方から届けられているような音空間を作り出しています。
